BLS for Healthcare Providers

The American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital or be treated with more advanced lifesaving measures.

The American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Course covers:

• adult and pediatric CPR

• two-rescuer scenarios and use of the bag-valve mask

• foreign-body airway obstruction (conscious and unconscious)

• automated external defibrillation (includes child AED update)

• special resuscitation situations

• other cardiopulmonary emergencies

• stroke and cardiac arrest

American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers training is intended for certified or noncertified, licensed or non-licensed, healthcare professionals, including:

• physicians

• nurses

• paramedics

• emergency medical technicians

• respiratory, physical, and occupational therapists

• physician's assistants

• residents or fellows

• medical or nursing students in training

• aides, medical or nursing assistants, and other allied health personnel

In addition, American Heart Association's BLS for Healthcare Providers training can be appropriate for first responders, such as police officers and firefighters, as well as for laypeople whose work brings them into contact with members of the public, such as school, fitness center, or hotel and restaurant employees.

Students must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card. Card is valid for two (2) years.

A valid, non-expired card, must be presented at start of class.

 

Online Course, Practice Session & Skills Evaluation - $65

Students must present a completed AHA Online Certificate prior to presenting for skills test.

Cost of online course is included in the above fee.

*As per American Heart Association rules, you are required to have the  current 2011 AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers Student Manual for this course. If you already own one or have access to one before, during and after the class, you are not required to purchase one here. Otherwise you should purchase it during registration. Cost is $12. No one will be allowed to participate in this course without the required student manual.  7 Day advanced purchase required, otherwise add $10 to above fees.
